the volunteer experience

We want you to have the best volunteer experience you can as you serve. This is the place to get the information you need to help you prepare.

SUPPORT LONG- TERM MISSIONS

Fulfill your potential in Christ by helping serve the Great Commission. Your short-term service will help long-term missions by doing support work.

what can i expect

30-40 hours a week

Expect to work 30-40 hours a week. These hours may also include location meetings such as intercession/worship and other staff/community meetings. Usually evenings/weekends are free for exploring the area and socializing.

Travel light

Depending on where you go, living spaces may be shared and storage space may be limited. Keep this in mind while packing.

Childcare may not be provided

Only a few YWAM locations provide childcare. Be sure you have communicated clearly of any childcare needs at the location you wish to serve.

Be flexible

Locations try to place you in areas that you would like to serve but please be flexible if their needs change and they need you to serve in another area.

Initiate relationships

YWAM typically experiences a great deal of transition of students, staff, volunteers and visitors coming and going. Step out and introduce yourself as much as possible, as great relationships can be formed in a short period of time. Keep in mind that not everyone will know that you are new, so be proactive in reaching out as they may be new to the location as well.

Have a servant’s heart

You are vital to the logistical and operational needs of YWAM locations and sometimes tasks are given that may not be what was expected. Try to take the posture of a servant and do all things for the glory of God.
