I served as a Mission Builder volunteer for two weeks. I love to travel and just recently retired and was encouraged to check out my volunteer options through MBI. I worked in the kitchen. and the kitchen supervisor and crew were all very friendly, helpful and I was comfortable working with them. The base in Lakeside is beautiful and I was able to do some sightseeing on my weekends off. I was also able to attend a staff meeting and a worship meeting where testimonies were shared by Discipleship Training Students who had been on outreach in Thailand. I was blessed and inspired to hear their stories about how God blessed them and those they served. This adventure was a leap of faith for me and way out of my comfort zone, but God was with me, encouraging me along the way and I’m SO glad I was able to volunteer for such an amazing organization. I will definitely do it again! I’d like to volunteer at some of the overseas bases if I’m able to recruit a friend to go with me. And I would definitely go back to Lakeside.

This was by far the best thing I’ve done. This time serving God at YWAM LA was amazing and a life experience I will never forget. It taught me so much about God and my relationship with God grew so much deeper. I gained new life long friends and learned so much about community. I really loved it and would definitely recommend this.

We were blessed to serve as Mission Builders. They had many ways we were able to assist them including carpentry jobs, organizing, cleaning, hospitality. The staff was very friendly and appreciative of our help. We were impressed with the kindness and sweet spirits of the staff and the vision of this base. We were able to work at the Ranchos Los Amigos orphanage while we were there and witnessed how well the children are cared for and how excellently it is run. Once again we made great friends that made it difficult to leave.

Amazing group of people! Awesome to see such diverse backgrounds and personalities all come together for one purpose! A great location to get away, as it is at the end of the road and on top of a mountain in the Ozarks! Lots to do for all aspects of volunteering! I found the six weeks to be one of the most rewarding times in my life and encourage anyone who is thinking of it, after you’ve prayed, just jump in and go. I have recently returned from volunteering at the Colorado Springs Strategic Frontiers Base as a mission builder. I honestly had no idea what I was getting myself into! To say it was rewarding and maybe life changing would be an understatement. The things that you will learn about yourself, others, the world, and of course the Lord are amazing! The staff and students were warm and welcoming. Some bases are asking for specific talents and some need help with things you can be taught or things that are somewhat everyday like housekeeping, kitchen help, and hospitality. The staff at MBI are very helpful at answering any questions and keeping tabs on you to make sure everything is going well. Would I do it again??? That’s exactly what I’m thinking about right now.
